Nevermind that this one’s a Feroza, it’s the same thing. The Rocky is like a Sidekick, but way more obscure. I want one badly.

Kinja'd!!!

I would settle for a Charade, especially one of the later De Tomaso variants, which would have to be imported from Japan, but, you know, what’s the chances of finding a Charade in North America nowadays anyways?

Kinja'd!!!

Or, maybe an Applause?

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Which was a Skoda Superb before the Skoda Superb was cool.

Kinja'd!!!

And, last but not least, the Hijet. Because hell yes. These things are quite common in Canada, mainly the trucks, from people wanting an extremely small completely utilitarian truck, which is something basically nonexistent in Canada, but they have oodles of in Japan. Also popular are the Subaru Sambar, Suzuki Carry (Known to the Brits as the Bedford Rascal, also famous for killing Richard Hammond in the Top Gear van challenge), and the Honda Acty.

Halfway through writing this, I realized Daihatsu is probably the best automaker ever.

That De Tomaso thing looks awesome! Very much 90s. Is there anything exciting under the hood.

It had the 16-valve SOHC unit from the regular GTi, but it was fiddled around with to extract 124 horsepower. In a car that small and light, I’d imagine it would be very, very, very fun.

There are a few decent Rockys floating around in Colorado. Every once in a great while I see a Charade too.

We had all of those here in Chile, they are the cooler versiones of Toyota, it’s a shame they are all so darn small.

Also 2016 is the last year of Daihatsu in Chile as they are dropping the Terios and probably replacing it with the C-HR thing.

Oh hey, let’s be friends. As the ONLY Charade enthusiast in the USA and most likely Canada, we can talk about things like how you park your Daihatsu in the garage but your Fiesta ST in the street because like hell your gonna let something happen to your 25 year old Japanese econobox.

Been in Victoria for all of two days, y’all have some weird shit up here. Civics that pretend they’re Acuras, waaayy too many Delicas for something that was never sold here, and apparently everyone has a Chevy Uplander/Pontiac Montana, aka the shittiest minivans known to mankind. Also, for some reason you have Suzuki Sidekicks, Asuna Sunrunners, Geo Trackers, Chevy Trackers, AND GMC Trackers. I mean, how many versions of the same shitty little 4x4 do you guys need? Ironically, the only Rocky I’ve seen this trip was in Port Angeles, WA but it was wearing BC plates IIRC so all is well.

Kinja'd!!!

Still, you guys got the old X-Trail and the Micra, so I forgive the whole Uplander thing.

There are like 5 U bodies on my street alone, it’s kinda crazy how much we ate them up. And, yeah, Vancouver Island is infested with Delicas, they are everywhere. They’re spreading too, I saw two today.

My dream Daihatsu, ever since Gran Turismo 4 came out in 2005, has been a Storia X4. 120 horsepower, AWD, 1800 pounds. I hear they’re painfully dull to drive but I’m calling bullshit because nothing that combines 120 horsepower and 1800 pounds can ever be boring. And it’s probably the best “I don’t have a GT3 save on my memory card” GT4 starter car. And Gran Turismo is life.

Yeah, the U-body invasion is kind of odd considering that anything Japanese from that era would be better equipped, safer, and more reliable for a similar price, but the whole region seems hell-bent on buying GM for some reason, since Pontiacs are everywhere despite the brand having died in ‘09.

For a while Pontiac was almost more Canadian than American. We were basically the only ones keeping them alive. GM’s roots run deep in Canada.

That seems to be the case. What a shame that GM had to trim down so drastically due to the recession. If anything, GMC and Buick should have been cut, with Saturn getting all the Opels (like the Insignia/Regal) and Pontiac building the BMW competitors (like the ATS-V). Meanwhile, Caddy should have gone back to ultimate luxury, with a more Benz-oriented line.

I used to see those Daihatsu 4wds, but not under either of those names. They were called Sportraks. All the same blue and silver for some reason.
